One of the things churches do that really frustrate me is to expect young people to come to them, rather than going out to where the youth are e.g schools, malls ect.
I am a youth pastor and my church sincerely believes that I should only work within the confines of the youth in the church (members). The problem is I’m down to twenty and once their gone then the church considers them non members.
The idea is if you build it they will come (From a movie, would love to know the title)
The problem is with that mentality young people today have so much calling for their attention. The church needs to become a loud voice in there ears. Calling them to enter into a radical life with Jesus Christ.
Maybe I’m wrong hear but I’m tired of hearing people tell me it’s because the program does not work, or I am not listening to them. The fact is this: youth are not coming because the church is not going out to meet them.
I know this is a generalization, so I hope some one can help me. Am I being unfair to the church in my assessment?
