LEADERSHIP

Being elected as a leader, after the initial “feel good” has worn off, can be quite a daunting thing!  Suddenly you are in the lime-light, people have expectations of you and they watch your every move.  People are often critical especially as yourepresent the church and Christianity, and will just love to see you stumble and fall.  How you lead your life, make decisions and present yourself to the outside world suddenly becomes quite important.

The tricky thing is that you can’t put up a front!  This is the time that you need to be real, true to yourself and especially to God.  If you do this, you will walk with Jesus and will have nothing to fear! There will be a sincerity, genuineness, confidence and love that will eminate from you, and instead of being critical of you people will want to have what you have.  The love of Christ shining from you!

Priorities as a leader:                                                                              Serving Self

Be productive                                                                                       Praise, prestige, power.

Be humble servants of the Lord                                        Serving to satisfy own needs.

Put others first                                                                     Compromise honesty.

Be accountable to God and others                                  Rely on own strength and cleverness.

Depend on God

God will always equip us for whatever task lies ahead, provided that we have faith and trust in Him.  If you are in His will, it is amazing what you can achieve!  Do not rely on your own strength, it will fail you!  Step out in faith and believe that God will help you with whatever task He has placed you in.  Be bold and confident knowing that God has given you the tools you need and assistance to help you.  Being a leader in not doing everything yourself, it is learning to delegate!  Make sure that you are spiritually fed and nourished.  Peoples questions, problems and discussions often drain us and so we need to constantly fill ourselves up.  We can not allow our faith to stagnate!
