We often run our yearly Holiday Club in the June, July Holiday. This particular year the Holiday Club had been tough, one of the leaders had a death in the family, their where many more kids than expected so the leaders where exhausted and tempers flared.

That night we summoned the leaders together in our sanctuary with strict instructions to bring their Bibles and pillow slips. We had no worship team or anything to create the mood. I started by blindfolding the leaders and spreading them across the sanctuary with enough room for them to move. We had removed all the chairs earlier so there where no obstructions. I started to explain to the leaders as they sat there in darkness, that no one was to take off their blindfolds. The leaders where then encouraged to do expressive praise and worship e.g. dancing, praying and so on. In the background we played some slow praise and worship.

The most amazing thing happened. The spirit of God came upon the leaders in a mighty way; I still get tears in my eyes when I think of it. Suddenly, Youth leaders where crying out before God together in unity. We spent two hours ministering to each other that night, my wife the youth and I. Please note if your going to do this please clear it with your leadership first, early in my ministry some one walked in during a rather harsh time and it did not look too good. So I had some explaining to do.

The point is that we often as youth pastors want to make things work and rely solely on our abilities of counseling, conflict management etc. The Holy Spirit is more than enough during our tough times.

With all your heart you must trust the LORD and not your own judgment. Always let him lead you and he will clear the road for you to follow.
